Sec 1 Be it ordained by the Court Martial of the in General Court Assembled. That all free white male inhabitants, resident in the City of , who are or shall be of the age of eighteen and under the age of forty-five years, except as hereinafter excepted, shall severally and respectively be enroled in the militia, of the Nauvoo Legion, by the captain or commanding officer of the company with in whose bounds such citizen shall reside, within twenty days after he shall be informed of such residence; and also those who may from time to time arrive at the age of eighteen, who shall reside in the bounds of his company; and shall without delay notify such person by an officer or non commissioned officer of the company; Provided that it shall be the privilege of any such person within the aforesaid twenty days to volunteer into any of the independant companies in the Legion; and every such person so notified or enlisted shall with in six months thereafter provide himself with a good musket, fuzee, rifle, or such other arms as the by laws of the company may require, with proper accoutrements. Provided, no private shall be compelled to appear on parade with arms unless they actually have them.
Sec 2 That the Legionshall officered as follows, to wit; one Lieutenant General as Commander in Chief andoneMajor Generalreviewing officer; one Major General as the second in command
