The presiding officer of any board, which may to at any time be appointed, to pass upon a contested e[l]ection as aforesaid, shall have power, at the request of either of party, to send for and examine witnesses and if any witness, when properly summoned, shall refuse or neglect to attend any such board as aforesaid, without a reasonable, it shall be the duty of the presiding officer as aforesaid to turn such witness over as a delinquent, to the next regular court of inqury, having proper jurisdiction, to be who shall thereupon proceed to acquit, or to assess the fine of such witness, as circumstances shall require in like manner as is prescribed against delinquents, for failing to attend muster, when legally required so to do
All persons oaths of office to be taken by the officers of this , shall (as near as may be) be in the following form, to wit: I do solemnly Swear (or affirm,) that I will support the Constitution of the and of this ; and that I will not be engaged in dueling, either directly or in directly, during my continuance in office; and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of [blank] in the [blank] Cohort of Nauvoo Legion of Illinois Militia to the best of my Skill and under standing— so help me God
Which said oath shall be certified on the back of the commission or certiffcate (as the case may be) by the officer administering the same
The Legion shall parade in the following manner. to wit: Each Company in the Legion shall hold a Company parade on the first Saturday, each Battalion a Battalion parade on the second Saturday and each Regiment a Regiment parade on the third Saturday of May at such place as the comandants of the said Companies Battalions & Regiment Respectively may direct Provided the parade as aforesaid be in the bounds of said Company Battalion or Regiment and Provided also that the Brigadier Genl of each Cohort may have power to change the day of the Regimental parades to suit his own convenience, as a reviewing officer. and Provided also that the time of such parades shall be [p. 10]
