For the election of any Regmental <​field​> or Company officer the order for the same shall be given at least ten days previous stating the time and place of holding such election all public notice given as afforesaid it shall be the duty of the officer ordering elections as afforesaid to attend the the peace of holding such election and organize the board of election. It shall be the duty of the adjutant of each Regiment in which such Regimental or Company election is to be held to attend all such elections. and act as sectary of siad election and keep a record of the same as in the cases pertaing to his duty All returns of election so held, shall be made to the officer ordering the same, who shall certify to the, Brigade Major, Division inspector <​as the case may be​> or such other officer who may by law be appointed to make returns to the Adjutant General of the

It may be lawful for any field or Company officer to be elected without previous notice whenever the Regiment, Battalion, or Company may be called out to do militia duty according to law. Proided the returns be made as afforesaid
And it shall be the duty of all officers authorized to appoint staff officers by this act, to except their resignations as above, and fill all vacancies in their own staff by appointment. and make returns thereof to the proper officer as in cases of election
