I a Justice of the Peace, in and for the said , do certify that and his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . This Indenture made this fourth day of August Eighteen hundred and forty three Between of , Hancock County, and State of Illinois, of the one part, and Samuel P. Hoyt, of , Iowa, of the other part, Witnesseth that the said for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and ninety one dollars and thirty two cents, to him in hand paid by the said Samuel P. Hoyt, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said Samuel P. Hoyt and to his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate in the City of aforesaid, being Lot No three (3) in Block No one hundred and forty Eight (148) on Water Street. To have and to hold the premises aforesaid, with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, unto him the said Samuel P. Hoyt and his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always, that these presents are upon this express condition, that if the said , his heirs, executors or administrators, shall pay or cause to be paid to the said Samuel P. Hoyt his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, the sum of seven hundred and ninety one dollars, and thirty two cents, one year from the date of these presents, (or as soon after as legally demanded.) in manner particularly specified in a certain note or obligation, bearing even date herewith executed by the said to the said Samuel P. Hoyt, then and from thenceforth these presents and every thing herein contained, shall cease and be void, any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding [p. 102]
