In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

State of Illinois, City of , ss. Personally appeared before me an Alderman of the aforesaid who being personally known to me acknowledged that he had executed the above instrument for the purposes herein set forth in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 4th day of August 1843

This Indenture, made and entered into, this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty four between and Sarah [Stewart] his wife, of the county of and State of , of the one part, and of the county of and aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and Sarah his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifteeen dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of , in the State of , viz: The East half of Lot number Two, in Block number Fourteen of s addition to the City of . Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and Sarah his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said and Sarah his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.

I Notary Public, in and for the City of , County and State aforesaid, do certify that and Sarah his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Sarah Stewart having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . In testimony whereof, I the said Notary, have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my Notarial Seal, at the City of , this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. .
