This Indenture, made and entered into, this twenty third day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty four between and Julia Ann [Hooker Shumway] his wife, of the county of and State of , of the one part, and of the county of and aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and Julia Ann his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of , in the State of , viz: a part of Lot numbered fifty two in Block numbered four in s addition to , commencing on White Street near the North West corner of said lot running thence South along the West line of said lot twelve rods twelve and a half feet, thence East ten rods and two feet, thence north at parrallel lines to the center of White Street, thence West along White Street to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and Julia Ann his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said and Julia Ann his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.

I a Justice of the peace in and for the City of , County and State aforesaid, do certify that and Julia Ann his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Julia Ann Shumway having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my seal, at the City of , this 24th. day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-four
