This Indenture, made and entered into this thirty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four, between Thomas J. Filcher and Eliza [Filcher] his wife of the County of , and State of of the one part and John H. Rumil of the County of , and aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Thomas J. Filcher and Eliza his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of sixty two dollars and fifty cents to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said John H. Rumil his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the County of in the State of , viz; Commencing at the North East corner of lot seventy (70) in Block two (2) in s addition to , running South on the lot line between the lots sixty nine (69) and seventy (70) ten rods five feet, thence West two rods five feet, thence North six rods thirteen feet ten inches, thence West again two rods five feet, thence North three rods seven feet, thence East four rods ten feet to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said John H. Rumil his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Thomas J. Filcher and Eliza his wife, their heirs and assigns the aforesaid premises unto the said John H. Rumil his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said Thomas J. Filcher and Eliza his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written

State of Illinois, , sct. I acting Justice of the peace in and for the County of , do certify that Thomas J. Filcher and Eliza his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Eliza Filcher having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said husband. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 31st. day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four.
