feet, thence South one hundred and two feet to the first mentioned corner, the above described premises being in and according to the plat of the City of . Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said David Martin his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and Polly Zerviah his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said David Martin his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said , and Polly Zerviah his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.

I Notary Public, in and for the City of , County and State aforesaid, do certify that and Polly Zerviah his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Polly Zerviah Johnson having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . In testimony whereof, I, the said Notary, have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my Notarial seal, at the City of , this twenty fifth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. . Know all men by these presents, that I, of the City of Hancock County, and State of Illinois, am held and firmly bound, unto David Martin of Hamilton County and State of his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns in the penal sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of the for the payment of which well and truly to be made I do hereby bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns firmly by these presents. Sealed with my seal and dated this twenty seventh day of May A. D. 1844. The Condition of the above obligation are such that whereas the above bounded has on the day of the date hereof sold unto the aforesaid David Martin the following described piece or parcel of land situated, lying and being in the and aforesaid known and designated as Lot forty three in Block Five, s addition to the City of , commencing at the North East corner of said Lot, running South Eleven rods, thence West eleven rods, thence North eleven rods, thence East eleven rods to the place of beginning, for the sum of one hundred and fifty [p. 174]
