part, Witnesseth, that the said & his wife for & in consideration of the sum of Forty dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey & confirm unto the said James Newbury his heirs & assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land situate & being in the county of in the State of , viz: Commencing at the South West corner of Lot eighty two (82) in Block one in s Addition to the City of , with James Newbury's lot on the South, & Carters lot on the West, thence running North to widow Mail’s lot, thence East to ' lot, thence South to James Newbury's lot, thence West to the place of beginning, containing one acre more or less. Together with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any-wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said James Newbury his heirs and assigns forever. And the said & his wife, the aforesaid premises, unto the said James Newbury, his heirs & assigns, against the claim or claims of all & every person whomsoever do & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said and his wife of the first part have hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year above written.

I a Justice of the Peace in & for the City of in said , do certify that & his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in & who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses & purposes therein mentioned. And the said having been by me made acquainted with the contents of said deed & examined separate & apart, from her said acknowledged that she had executed the same for those uses, & relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely & without compulsion of her said . Given under my hand & seal this twentieth day of February A. D. 1844. J. P. L. S. Alderman of the City .

Earl of the and aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars to them in hand paid by said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do grant bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns all their right title and claim to a certain lot of ground, or parcel of land lying and being in the [p. 80]
