dont see him he swore good & dont swearing— dont know who did it all— cant tell. filled up the “Bearding the Lion in his den” The troops seemed pleased with it— some did not— Troops cheered him— no one seemed willing to start till Grover went forward. 80 or 90— in all came— I run them over as they came to the Jail there were 84— in number. left about 4. miles back & came on. I did not see him for 4 miles back. did not see him when he left. did not see him any more— about four miles back a hault was called— did not see leave company. dont know where he went— did not see after leaving rail road till saw him in — A man that had a Carthage Grey coat on came out to the halting place & had communication with — gave him a line. told the contents aloud— read it off aloud— to Company— the letter is correct in the Book that read aloud— I made the statement to about as stated in the Book. I made an affidavit of the same facts— I now remember I did see before we got to — we got some milk at a House— [p. [14]]
