The city council of Organized <& opend by prayr by Joseph Smith>. when the Mayor Elect delivered his inaugurel Address, <as published in the Times & Seasons page. 316. & onward,> and the following persons were Elected by the council to their respective offices. To wit, (T&S. 319) Sheets, I presented to the City Council the following resolutions which was unanimously adopted. Resolved (T&S. 320.) wont, <I Presented a bill for> “An ordinance concerning the University of Nauvoo Li which passed as follows Sec 1. (T. & S. 321) Recrded, <I <also> presented a bill for > “An ordinance organizing the Nauvoo Legion” <which> was passed the Same day as follows Sec 1. (T&S. 321.2) Recorded” <Sec 1 (T&S. 321.2) Recorded.—> The following addition has been made to the charter of the by the Legislature, “Any citizen (T&S. 320) body,” and I gave a general invitation to my frens to enrol themselvs so as to have a perfect organization by. the 4th of July. I was appointed chairman of sever committes, viz <“on the canal”> “for vacating the town of ;” “vending spiritous Liquors:” “Code of City ordinances”: “Board of health:” &, council adjured to the 8th.
<4.> Thursday. 4. I was Elected Lieut General of the Nauvoo Legion. <Legion Minutes, “Pursuant to an Ordinance (History of ) Companies.>
<5> Friday. 5. Elder is at Glasgow. Scotd. the church in that City numbers. 55, and the spirit of Enquiry increases
<6> Saturday 6, Minutes of a council at Bro Richard Harrisons 72 Burlington , for organizing a co of Saints going to , on Ship Sheffield. Capt. Porter. “Elders , , , & othe[r] offices prsent. Elder was chosen prest. & Thomas Walmly, Miles Romny, John Tayler, Francis Clark, & John Riley. councillors to . Clerk & Historien, & John Tayler were ordained Elders. & his council were blessed & set apart for their mission by the <high> council.” Clerk.
<7> Sunday 7. Ship Sheffield sailed from 235 with 235 Saints.
<8> Monday 8th writes from , To the Editor of the “Star” “Since Stanly Hill (M.S. 283.4) effect”
