<23.> Monday 23d. called It was reported that a the body of a dead child has been discovred in the , near And I called a special Session of the City Council, by at which was elected Coroner of the City of ,
<24> <Tuesday 24—> about this time was cut off from the church <by the High Council> for unchaste & unvi[r]tuous conduct toward certain females, and for teaching that it was right, if kept secret, &c. This day was put under $200 bonds, to keep the peace, on my complaint of his <again[s]t> him <for> slanders, before J. Peace.
<25> Wednesday 25, I spent in councilling the Bishops, and assisting them to bring to light the <expose> iniquity of Notice was this day Given to the fi[r]st prsidency Twelves & Bishops had withdrawn fellowship from him and were about to publish him in the paper. but on his humbling himself, and begging we would spare him from the paper for his mothers sake the notice was withheld withdrawn from the paper,
<26> Thur[s]day 26, This fore noon I attended a meeting of near a hundred of the brethen in the Lodge room, when <to whom> acknowl[edg]ed <his wicked> & licentious conduct towads certain females in & that he was worthy of the severst of punishm chastisements, & cried <like a child> & begged that he might be even spared in any <possible> way, so deep was his <apparent> sense of <his> guilt and unfitness for respectable society. So deeply did he feign, or really feel, contrition for the moment, that he was forgiven, still. I plead for mer[c]y for him.— At. 1. P.M. I attended a large & Respectable meeting of the Citizens of , held near the , and addressed them on politics <the principles of govenment>, at considerable length, shewing that I did not intend to votee the whig or democratic ticket as such, but would go for those who would Support good order &c. The meeting nominated candidates for Senater, Reprsetatves, &c officers & of exprssed their entire disapprobation of the Qincy Whig, relative to my being concered agaist .—
<27> Friday 27. Had an attack of a billious nature, staid at home, took some Medicine
<28> Satudy [Saturday] 28. Convalescent, walked to the with transacted Some business in the , At 8. evening called at the with the <night> watch to see the wasp,— violnt shocks of Earthquakes were experinced in Greece about this time. [p. 15]
