’ company— There were three companies along— one was ’, one [blank] and one was a company from “Green Plains”— We got to the Rail Road Shanties not far from 12 o clock— a halt was made there to feed the teams— knows Saw him at the Rail Road— knows — Saw him at the Rail Road— Saw there— Capt [William] Grover & C◊◊◊ <was> there with his company— was there— read an order from the to disband the troops— after I had eat dinner— was on horseback when he dismissed the company— <I believe> he was on a sorrel mare— was on horseback— Dont recollect what sort of horse was riding— was on horseback the others were on foot— heard no speeches— heard Mr Grover call for volunteers— Said they were coming to to <See the and to> See what the had dismissed the troops for— they had a division. at the rail road— some went back and some came on— they did not stay more than a half an hour before they started on— Dont recollect seeing any of them but Mr. Grover until we got half way here— (to ). When we got half way here I saw and — but did not see or <Davis>— came along in a lumber waggon belonging to Calvin Cole, until within a half a mile of the jail— betwixt three and four miles from here I saw Grover, , & — did not See — It was [p. 61]
