Monday Dec 18— at home
after Dinner . retur[n]ed with . trial in the Assembly room for examination. <​before —​> found guilty of Kidnappi[n]g and bou[n]d over for trial to the circuit court in the sum of $3000. during the investigation. testimony appeard to show Elliot had thretend my life and for this I brought him to trial <​before J. P. [justice of the peace]​> immed[i]ately af[ter] the sentinc [sentence] of . In testimo[n]y it appeard the prisoner had said in relati[o]n to myself “we will pop him over” as though he knew a plan had been laid. to take my life by some body— or co[mpany] of Individuals.— .— & spoke in behalf of the . followed by in a masterly spe[e]ch in which he pourtrayed— the enormyty of the offen[ce] in its true colors [p.
