verse 1st of the gentile
<v> 1st) What advantage then hath the Jew over the gentile? or what prophet <profit> of circumsicion who is not a jew from the heart?
2nd But he who is a jew from the heart, I say hath much every way; cheifly because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. For what if some did not beleive? shall their unbeleif make the faith of God without effect? God forbid; yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, that theu <thou> mightest be justifyed in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. But if we remain in our unrighteousness of God and commend the righteousness of God, how dare we say, God is unrighteous who taketh vengence? (I speak as a man who fears God.) God forbid; for then how shall God judge the world? For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie, (as is <it> called of you) <of the Jews,)> unto his glory; why am yet am I yet also judged as a sinner, and not received, because we are slanderously reported? And some affirm that we say, (whose damnation is just,) let us do good that evil do evil that good may come, But this is false. If not so, what then are we better than they? No, in no wise, for we have proved before, that jew and gentiles are all under sin
20th) For by the law is the knowledge of sin. Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight, [p. 122 (second numbering)]
