for war. And it shall come to pass, also, that the remnant who are left of the land, will marshal themselves, and shall become exceeding angry and shall vex the gentiles with a sore vexation. And thus with the sword, and by bloodshedd, the inhabitants of the Earth shall mourn. And with famine, and plague, and earthquakes, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce vivid lightning, also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath and indignation and chast[e]ning hand of an Almighty God until the consumption decreed hath made a full end of all nations: that the cry of the saints, and of the bloodshed of the saints, shall cease to come into the ears of the Lord of Saboath, from the earth, to be avenged of their enemies: wherefore stand ye in holy places, and be not moved until the day of the Lord. Amen

Revelation, 24 February 1834 [D&C 103]
A Revelation given February, 1834.
Verily I say unto you my friends, behold I will give unto you a revelation and commandment, that you may know how to act in the discharge of your duties concerning the salvation and redemption of your brethren, who have been scattered on the land of Zion, being driven and smitten by the hands of mine enemies; on whom I will pour out my wrath without mercy measure in mine own time: for I have suffered them thus far, that they might fill up the measure of their iniquities, that their cup might be full: and that those who call themselves after my name might be chastened for a little season, with a sore and grevious chastisement, because they did not hearken altogether unto the precepts and commandments which I gave unto them.
But verily I say unto you, I have decreed a decree which my people shall realize, inasmuch as they hearken from this very hour unto the council which I the Lord their God shall give unto them. Behold they shall, for I have decreed it, begin to prevail against mine enemies from this very hour,— and by hearkening to observe all the words which I the Lord their <God shall> speak unto them, they never cease to prevail until the kingdoms of the world are subdued under my feet, and the earth is again given unto the saints to possess it for ever and ever.
